Who we are
We’re the Boston chapter of the nonviolent national Indivisible movement, which was founded by former Congressional staffers Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin. Our group was founded in 2024.
Mission Statement
Boston Indivisible is a community of activists who welcome all Boston-area residents, connecting them with opportunities to stand up and positively affect the state of U.S. democracy—in whatever nonviolent ways are right for them. We bring people together to find community and feel hope, because we believe that working in unity is the only defense against authoritarianism. Boston Indivisible has a single, nonpartisan purpose: moving our nation toward a healthier, more inclusive, and more representative democracy.
Our purpose
Indivisible exists in response to the multi-decade takeover of American politics by a far-right ideology. These aren’t the pro-immigrant, small-government politics of Reagan or Eisenhower. This is an extremist, anti-minority, anti-women, anti-democratic agenda seeking to remake America as a repressive, totalitarian state.
How you can help
There’s still time to stop them–but we have to act now. Boston Indivisible helps organize marches, protests, boycotts, and much, much more to push back and save democracy. Political scientists Erica Chenoweth and Maria Stephan found it takes just 3.5% of a population to create the political, economic, and social pressure necessary to achieve their goals. Small actions matter. Single voices count. Let yours be one of them.
